Apartment buildings in Nižná Maša

Two-story apartment buildings from the 19th century built for employees of the former Andrássy and Nádasdy ironworks. The buildings later served as apartments for retirees of the Rimamuránska železiarska spoločnosť (Rimamuránska Ironworks). Today, they are mainly used as recreational dwellings.
At the beginning of the 20th century, blast furnaces for smelting iron ore were still in operation in the area, and the remains of stone walls can still be seen nearby. Water from the Slaná River, diverted by an artificial canal that still exists today, powered the turbine of a small hydroelectric power plant until the 1950s.
