Douglas fir

It originates from western North America, where it forms continuous stands in some mountain ranges. It reaches a height of up to 80 m and grows rapidly.

There are several Douglas firs growing in the park, the most beautiful and probably the oldest specimen being a solitary Douglas fir in a forest clearing west of the castle. It is over 30 meters tall. We estimate that it may be over 200 years old. It was probably planted in the early 19th century, is nicely grown, and has a wide conical crown. It blooms regularly and produces cones.
