Hodnotu takmer neporušene zachovaného stredovekého pôdorysu Sabinova zvyšuje pás mestského opevnenia. Pomerne jednoduchú koncepciu hradobného systému, charakter bášt a strieľní predurčili prírodné podmienky.
Pre charakteristické rozmiestnenie bášt s ich pomerne veľkým rozostupom (50 – 77 m), prispôsobeným novým vyspelým strelným zbraniam, je hradobný systém Sabinova pokladaný za goticko-renesančný. Samotné bašty členené dvoma až štyrmi podlažiami si svojimi pôdorysnými a výškovými parametrami zachovávajú gotický charakter. Z pôvodných šestnástich bášt sa do súčasnosti zachovalo šesť s časťami hradobného múru. Na južnej strane sú súvislé úseky hradobného múru miestami zachované až v pôvodnej výške.
Town Fortifications ↑ top
Sabinov's medieval layout, preserved almost intact, is enhanced by the town fortifications. The relatively simple concept of the fortification system, using bastions and embrasures, was determined by the natural environment.
Due to the typical placement of the bastions with relatively long distances between them (50 – 77 m) adapted to new, advanced firearms, the Sabinov's fortification system is considered to be Gothic-Renaissance. The layout and height of the two to four-storey bastions are Gothic. Of the original total of sixteen bastions, six have been preserved until the present day together with parts of the wall. Continuous sections of the wall in the south have been preserved at their original height in several places.
