Piaristické lýceum ↑ top
Piaristický kláštor, získaný prestavbou niekdajšieho protestantského lýcea v rokoch 1745 – 1748, je najvýznamnejšou barokovou stavbou v meste. Má pravidelný pôdorys s ústredným dvorom. Z pôvodnej protestantskej stavby sa okrem iného zachovali renesančné krížové klenby v prízemí. Strohý ráz budovy je odrazom jej účelnosti. Piaristom slúžilo do r. 1920, potom v budove bola meštianska resp. jedenásťročná stredná škola, kasárne, okresný úrad, požiarna zbrojnica, učilište.
Od r. 1957 – 2005 sídlo mestského múzea, kde boli výstavné exponáty a artefakty z dejín Sabinova a jeho okolia.
Časť priestorov budovy sa dnes využíva ako Kultúrne centrum – informačné centrum, mestská galéria a koncertná sála.
Piaristic Lyceum ↑ top
The former Protestant lyceum was built in 1745 – 1748 to become the Piaristic monastery. It has a symmetrical layout with a central quadrangular courtyard. The Renaissance cross vaults on the ground floor have been preserved from the original Protestant building, among other things. The simple style of the building reflects its purposefulness. The Piarists used the building until 1920, when it became in turn a town school, a secondary school, military barracks, district office, fire station and apprentice school.
From 1957 to 2005 it housed the town museum with exhibits and artefacts showing the history of Sabinov and its surroundings.
At present, part of the building is used by the Cultural Centre: information centre, town gallery and concert hall.
